Grade A-Through case studies from Scotland, identify wide range of reasons why tourists visit countries; describe in detail advantages and disadvantages of tourism; describe impact of technology on tourism; show detailed knowledge and understanding of terminology, ideas, and make use of a widerange of information. Be aware of ethical dimension of tourism

Unit 3- Environmental Issues

 

 

Grade Related criteria for Unit 3

 

Grade C-mixed standard of answer; some gaps; explanations of environmental issues, although valid, are basic; pupil makes limited use of new words; research work is mostly copied straight from sources; analysis is mostly descriptive or copied with little real understanding. Some help needed to choose a topic.

 

Grade A write fluent, detailed answers, incorporating appropriate vocabulary; show understanding of complex diagrams and maps; can identify issue(s)in satirical cartoon; shows awareness of interrelationships among environmental issues. Can plan, research and analyse an environmntal issue.

Note-This Unit is based on aspects of the  NQ Geography Intermediate syllabus Unit 3-"Environmental Hazards"

This unit is NOT part of the SII exam in May in 2007

 

"Grade Related criteria for Unit 4

 

 

Grade C-can identify location of speciic natural hazards on a map; can give simple explanation of formation of earthquake and volcano; can identify stages in formation of a tropical storm ; can add labels to diagrams;

 

Grade A -can write detailed and fluent explanation of how earthquakes and volcanoes are formed; can describe and explain develpment of a tropical storm; can refer to named examples of particular natural hazards.
